Instructions/How To Play:

The top card of the deck is revealed. You choose whether to deal it to the player(bottom hand) or your enemy(top hand). Continue until both decks are full(max hand size is 5)

Each card has an energy cost(top left yellow icon). You can only spend 3 energy per turn(yellow diamond next to hp heart shows the current energy amount). The icon below each card is an indicator that tells you if it is an attack, block, or debuff card.

Status effects: Weakness = the user deaks 50% less damage with thier attacks. Vulnerable = you take 50% more damage from all attacks

Then press the play round button to start the card playing phase. The player goes first, then the enemy. Cards are played from left to right. If noone reaches 0 or less hp(heart icon), then you continue for more rounds. If the player dies, the game is over. If the enemy dies, the game continues, you heal a bit, pick new cards, then fight the next enemy.

The game continues going on forever with no end, and probably does not scale very well. I over scoped and had to cut many features, but hope you can appreciate the basic card gameplay.


Made by Ethan Stone in 48 hours for the GMTK game jam 2023 in the Godot engine with the theme of "Roles Reversed". The main idea for the game is "Slay the Spire but you play as the dealer".

this game is so addicting! Would love to see an expanded version of it

This game is really fun! It's a shame you had to cut stuff, but even as is there is a whole lot of potential here! You should keep working on it after the Jam!

That's super creative. It's like a mix between a solitaire and a regular card game. This mechanic is definitely worth exploring!
